How Areafans works
Every team has bars in every city. Fans put them on the map, fans prove them, and the map turns true. Here is the whole system.
What is Areafans?
Areafans is the fan-built map of where every team's fans watch in every city. Area is your home metro, and Fans are the teams you claim. Fans back the bars where their people gather and prove them with live game-day check-ins. Areafans covers every league and every team, for all fans, especially the ones far from home.
How does a bar get on the map?
Fans put bars on the map. Any fan can back the bar where their people watch a team, and every back counts as fan evidence. Fan counts are real signups: fans who joined Areafans, picked the team, and call the city home.
How does a bar become verified?
Fans prove it in person. Live game-day check-ins at the bar are the strongest fan evidence, and enough of them earn the verified badge. The badge is earned live at games. More than one bar can be verified for a team in a city: big tribes fill more than one room.
What does “on the ballot” mean?
Bars on the ballot are scouted candidates. Tier 1 candidates are published by the tribe's own organization, with a citable source, and Tier 2 candidates are scouted leads. Candidates carry zero evidence weight until fans back them and check in, and they rank below any fan-backed bar.
Do bar owners affect the rankings?
Owner posts are labeled gameday facts, like TV count, sound policy, and specials. The ranking runs on fan evidence. Paid placement is always placement: the verified badge is earned by fans at games, and the nearest bar is always one tap away.
What does Areafans cost?
Free for fans. Always. Picking teams, backing bars, checking in, and building your bar's franchise in the Bar League are all free. Bar owners claim their venue free and can choose paid placement tiers.
